What is an interline discount?
An interline discount is a reduced rate that the cruise lines offer on select sailings to the airline industry.
Each cruise line has their own set of rules for who qualifies. Please visit Who Qualifies for details.

Why do the cruise lines offer airline employee / interline travel discounts?

Interline discounts are offered to airline employees when the cruise lines have extra rooms they need to fill. This is also a small way for the cruise lines to thank the airlines.

Why should I book under an interline discount?
Most of the time interline fares are heavily discounted and will save you a lot of money so you can cruise more often!

What documentation is needed to qualify for an interline travel discount?

  • active airline employee we will need a copy of your ID badge.
  • retiree of an airline currently in existence we will need a copy of your retiree ID badge.
  • spouse, dependent child, parent or in-law we will need a copy of the employee's ID badge and a letter on company letter head verifying employment and your relationship to the employee. 

Everything will need to be emailed to us within 24 hours of booking. Failure to do so will result in the interline rate being converted to the best rate available and you will be charged the difference.

Do all cruise lines offer interline discounts?
Not all lines offer discounts. Some lines are small and do not need help filling their rooms.

When is the best time to book an interline rate?
This will depend on the cruise line. Some lines offer interline travel discounts a year in advance. Some lines wait until closer to the sailing date. The cruise lines are in business to make money, so they will do their best to fill the ships with full fare guests first. Interline discounts usually come out after the final payment date on a sailing. After this date the cruise lines have a good idea how full the ship is and if they need more beds filled.

How far in advance can an interline rate be booked?
Interline rates can be booked as soon as the cruise line offers the discount. It depends on the cruise line. Some lines offer interline rates up to a year in advance. Some lines wait until a month or less! So if you see a sailing you like, at a rate you can afford, book it!

How often are interline rates updated?
A.B.Sea updates rates as soon as they come in. Some of our lines update daily, some only once a week and a few of them once a month.

How often do interline rates change?
Interline rates are constantly changing depending on availability. We have seen sailings open up at discounted airline employee rates for a few minutes and then close while we were trying to hold a room!

Will the crew be aware that I am traveling under a reduced interline fare?
Yes, some of the crew will be aware that you are traveling at a reduced fare. But, for the most part the majority of them will not unless they have access to your reservation. Your cabin attendant may not be aware, but the Guest Relations team will know.

Will I be treated differently because I am traveling under an interline rate?
You should not be treated differently than other passengers. However, there are some lines that offer different perks to passengers who are not booked at an interline discount. So do not expect to receive any special amenities that have been advertised to the general public to be included with your interline booking. If you would like them included then you will need to pay full fare.

Do the cruise lines bump interliners?
There are a few lines (Holland & SeaDream) that reserve the right to bump interline guests if they have full fare guests that need to be accommodated. This does not happen often and most of the time our interline guests are offered a full refund plus a free cruise!

Is there bump insurance?
A.B.Sea does not offer bump insurance. 

Are interline rates refundable?
No, interline rates are not refundable. Cancellation penalties will depend on the cruise line.
All AMAWaterways, Uniworld, Windstar & Club Med bookings are 100% nonrefundable.
 
Can I take my dog?
Yes, Cunard is the only line afloat with a kennel on board. Rates vary by sailing.

Will there be kids on Disney? 
What do you think? Seriously, someone did ask us this. No joke! :)

Do parents qualify for airline employee travel discounts?
Yes, parents of an active airline employee qualify for interline rates on most of the cruise lines we offer.

Do in-laws qualify for interline travel discounts?
Yes, in-laws of an active airline employee qualify on some of the cruise lines we offer.

Do dependent children qualify if traveling without the parents?
Some of the cruise lines will allow dependent children 21 and under to travel without the employee.

Does a spouse of the active airline employee qualify to travel alone?

Yes, most cruise lines will allow a spouse of an active airline employee to travel without the employee and receive the interline discount.

Do retirees qualify for interline discounts?
Yes, retirees of an active airline qualify on just about all the cruise lines we offer.
A few of our lines will accept retirees of defunct airlines, such as Eastern.

Are Interline Discounted Rates available to my friends and family?
Some lines extend the interline rates to friends or family traveling in their own room as long as the airline employee is also traveling.

Can we make payments in installments?
If you are booking far in advance the cruise lines will usually allow you to pay a deposit determined by them. Some cruise lines deposits are non-refundable. Some cruise lines require full payment at the time of booking if booking at an Interline discounted rate. A few lines will allow a 24 hour hold. Some cruises lines are 100% non-refundable once payment has been made and some lines normal cancel penalties apply.
Club Med, AMAWaterways, Uniworld and Windstar Interline bookings are always payment in full at the time of booking and are 100% non-refundable. Please ask your agent when booking and look over the invoice carefully before making payment.

What if the rate goes down after final payment has been made?
Rates CANNOT be adjusted after final payment has been made. If lower rates are offered
they are for NEW BOOKINGS ONLY.  Existing bookings will NOT be re-fared or refunded.

What happens if I get bumped and can't make it to the cruise?
That is a huge a problem.  Please leave early! Please buy a positive space air ticket!

Would it be a good idea for me to share how much I paid with fellow guests?
Absolutely not. Interline rates are a privileged fare and should not be shared with other passengers.
We have had lines threaten to cancel their interline program because of guests bragging
about the rate they paid.


Why is travel insurance so important?
In today’s changing travel environment, it’s important to protect your travel investment so you can relax and enjoy your trip. Unforeseen events such as flight delays, baggage loss or even a sudden sickness or injury could impact your travel plans. It is the passengers responsibility to look into and find a plan that works for them. Some credit cards include travel insurance if used as payment.
